Mama Tree Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training
Immerse yourself in the study of yoga for the childbearing year. Mama Tree offers comprehensive training in the art and science of teaching yoga for mamas at all stages of pregnancy, birth and beyond. The program includes yoga practice, lecture, class observations, practice teaching, guest speakers, and independent study.
Mama Tree offers two 45-hour sessions that should be taken consecutively (Level One must be completed in order to take Level Two). Upon completion of both levels, students will be eligible to apply 90 hours toward a Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher (RPYT) designation with the Yoga Alliance.
Level One: Prenatal Yoga Fundaments Immersion Training
This 45-hour immersion training is for yoga teachers, midwives, doulas and other health professionals who are interested in teaching yoga to mamas. All participants must have completed a 200-hour basic teacher training or at least three years of yoga practice. All participants must have a working knowledge of basic alignment principles.
Training includes:
Anatomy and physiology of pregnancy
The benefits of yoga for pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum
Sequencing a prenatal class
Postures to aid common discomforts of pregnancy
Contraindication for practice
Appropriate pranayama (breath) practices
Psychology of pregnancy and birth
Prenatal bonding
Physiology of childbirth
Yoga for labor
Cultural attitudes about birth
Medical and holistic models of care
Birth choices/empowered birth
Resource building
Nutrition/natural remedies for pregnancy and beyond
Mom & baby yoga
Postpartum issues
The 4th trimester
All participants will receive a copy of Prenatal Yoga with Jane Austin DVD as well a training binder with additional materials and resources.
A certificate of completion will be awarded upon completion of the 45-hour training, successful completion of take home exam and book report. This training qualifies as continuing education if you are registered with Yoga Alliance OR hours can be applied to registered prenatal yoga teacher designation (RPYT) with Yoga Alliance.
Level Two: Advanced Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training
This training is appropriate for those who have completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training and Mama Tree Level One. Level Two is designed for those who are looking to further explore the art of teaching yoga to mamas. This rich training invites participants to dive deeper into themselves to discover their authentic voices. Upon successful completion of both Level One and Two trainings, students will be eligible to apply 90 hours toward a Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher (RPYT) designation with the Yoga Alliance.

Improving teaching skills/finding your authentic voice
Sequencing prenatal and postnatal classes
Understanding the role of a teacher
Working with advanced students/modification
Advanced prenatal/postnatal restorative yoga
Life in the womb: understanding fetal development
Pathologies of pregnancy: yoga therapeutic and alternative healing options
Birth choices/empowered birth
Yoga for labor, partner yoga and massage
The 4th trimester, for mom and babe
Infant massage and developmental movement of babies
Understanding physical vs. energy bodies and how to heal both

This 20-hour teacher training intensive is for yoga teachers and practitioners wishing to deepen their understanding of yoga’s role in the powerful transition into motherhood. Learn how yoga can support women through the transformation of pregnancy, birth and beyond.
Training includes:

Physiological changes that occur in pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum
Therapeutics, postures, and practices to aid common discomforts of pregnancy
Posture modifications/how to use props
Appropriate pranayama (breath) practices

Poses and practices to avoid during pregnancy
Cautions of pregnancy and postpartum
Postpartum issues/therapeutics
We will also explore yoga as preparation for birth, focusing on the physical, mental and spiritual aspects of becoming a mother. Expect lecture, lively discussion and asana practice.
